Supervisor Certification: Adult & Child CETA
STEP 1: Review Requirements
Certification as a CETA provider at the highest level (i.e., with supervision as needed)
Recommendation by a CETA trainer or implementing organization
Time available to complete all training and supervision tasks
Oversight of at least five provider safety cases
Supervision encompassing at least 70% of CETA elements
Adherence to all supervision and competency reporting requirements
Demonstrate the ability to certify providers via competency roleplays
Complete ongoing CETA competency checks, which could include competency roleplays and demonstration of supervisor skills and clinical decision-making
Complete the CETA certification application and pass the CETA certification knowledge test (see next step)
STEP 2: Complete the CETA Certification Application and Supervisor Knowledge Test
The application and knowledge test typically take about two hours to complete—one hour for the application and one hour (timed) for the knowledge test—so be sure to reserve plenty of time! A score of 75% or above is required to pass (you’ll receive your score immediately following completion), and you may retake the test twice within a two-week period. Candidates must identify their CETACertified™ trainer in their application to verify all supervision criteria have been met.
STEP 3: Certification!
We will review your application and knowledge test score(s) and contact you via email within five business days regarding your CETA certification eligibility status. If all criteria are met, you will receive your certificate and instructions to maintain your certification via email. (You will also be notified via email if criteria are not met.)
After certification: If you become eligible to update your certificate with additional elements, please do not complete a new application. Instead, email certifications@cetaglobal.org for assistance.
